Pre-Care

Ideally want to get your spray tan two days before any big event. It will take about 48 hours for your spray tan to fully dry, so avoid wearing any important outfits. Free sample color is offered if unsure of reaction or color. 

 

👉🏻 Exfoliate and shave the day before -

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, which then reveals the fresh skin underneath. Extra care in the drier areas. This fresh skin is primed and ready to absorb the spray tan solution evenly and deeply. This means that you'll have a more even tan for longer. If shaving, avoid shaving cream that has mineral oil or added moisturizers which would cause a barrier to your skin and prevent spray tan to absorb properly and cause uneven tan. No showering 6 hrs before appt.

 

👉🏻  Day of spray tanning -

Do not apply any lotions, oils, deodorant, perfumes, or makeup. All of these can create a barrier on your skin that the tan may not adhere to.

👉🏻 Wear loose-fitting and dark-colored garments

If you wear tight clothes, it can lead to tan lines. The spray tan solution containing DHA might even rub off on your clothes. It cannot only stain your clothes but also remove the tan leading to streaks and patches. Do not wear socks or tight shoes while setting time. It will leave impression prints.

After-Care

👉🏻 No Sweating -

When leaving the studio, minimize sweating during the setting period. If your car leather or cloth seats, place a dark towel on the seat after leaving the studio to prevent the tan from rubbing off on the back of your legs.

👉🏻 Seatbelt, Bra Straps, Bag -

Avoid tight or constricting items on your body during the setting process. If possible, refrain from putting your bra back on and avoid carrying bags to prevent rubbing off the tan on your shoulders. Loosen the seatbelt while driving if possible.

👉🏻 No Dog/Cat Licks -

Some pets may be attracted to the scent of the solution or setting powder and attempt to lick your skin.​

👉🏻 Wait 8-12 hrs before first rinse-off for 'Original' colors. 'Express' can be rinsed from 1-4 hrs. -

First rinse is to be with warm water and have the water run clear. Pat dry with towel and not rub/scratch too hard to avoid tan removal. Do not wash your hair during your first rinse, this will cause streaking when the soap runs down your skin.When soaping and hair-washing time, wash skin with products that do not have mineral oil and sodium laureth sulfate, which can significantly reduce the life of a Sunless Tan.

Many drugstore soaps (ex. Dove) and bar soaps leave an invisible film on your skin that will not allow the sunless tan to penetrate properly resulting in a streaky, discolored tan. Dove can also make your tan fade faster and has the ability to turn it brassy due to how it alters your skin's ph! No-No list soaps: Dove, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Oil of Olay, Jergen's, Vaseline Intensive Care, Curell, most bar soaps, any deodorant that is not all-natural, and acne body washes. Avoid shaving cream when shaving up to 2 days. It can cause a barrier for the spray tan. Please do not pee in the shower when you have an Spray Tan, the ammonia in the urine will cause your tan to streak. ​

👉🏻 Moisturize daily -

Is one of the key reasons that your sunless tan has faded faster than you'd hoped. While many of us moisturize daily already as part of your normal skincare routine, moisturizing when you have a tan is important to help maintain that glow for longer. Very dry skin can affect how skin pick up the self-tanner's color, and cause an uneven tan.

👉🏻 Powder as needed

When having a strenuous workout that would result in sweating or in a hot or humid environment, recommend to apply powder before the workouts to help absorb sweat and reduce friction (sports bras, socks) and always pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing. Sweating can also cause a tan to fade prematurely.
